It is indeed a pleasure for me to write a few words about Dr Purabi Mandal whom I know personally and professionally since 1984. Dr Purabi duly completed her training in Radiodiagnosis in the year 1987 from the prestigious Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India. To execute her skills better she then underwent two stints of Senior Residency in Radiodiagnosis in the same Institute for one year and seven months between the period of July 1988 and October 1992. Thereafter she devoted full time in Diagnostic Radiology for which she has now attained an acclaimed experience of more than 30 years of experience in the field.
Dr Mandal’s interest revolves around whole body MRI & CT imaging. Her keen interest in advanced Neuro imaging MRI; Prostate MRI; Musculo-skeletal MRI and Chest & Body CT has culminated into her development of special expertise and proficiency in the field. Her desire to excel is evident in her reporting of diverse cases and imaging technique which include cranio-spinal, musculo-skeletal, body imaging, diffusion, perfusion, functional studies, spectroscopy, dynamic contrast studies & contrast angiography.
Having been involved in reporting of approximately 14,000 MRI & 5000 CT every year at a busy diagnostic imaging centre her proficiency has elevated her role as a supervisor to her juniors with reporting of images of equipment namely: MRI (Siemens 3T Skyra ; 1.5 T Avanto and Hitachi – MRP 7000, 3T) and CT – (Siemens – 6 and single slice and Hitachi – W 450).
All these development in the career over the years has been bolstered by her observer ship in eminent centres like New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center and New York Memorial Sloan –Kettering Cancer Center at USA and also her all round efforts to update her knowledge through attendance of regular CMEs.
I have always enjoyed reading her reports, which are very detailed, informative and salient for any clinician. These have immensely helped in solving clinical problems of my patient and hence I can confidently recommend her name for taking up any challenging task or job in her field.
I wish her best for her future
